Join Us: RiskTrace is looking for a Non-Executive Director

Working Together

We are looking for a NED (non-executive Director) who has established relationships with decision-makers in UK government departments, particularly those responsible for procurement, supply chain management and risk assessment.

You should have credible senior-level experience within central government, likely having served at Director-General or Permanent Secretary level, with demonstrable understanding of how decisions are made within Whitehall.

Your network should span key departments that would benefit from RiskTrace's offerings, including Cabinet Office, Ministry of Defence, and major procurement-focused agencies. They should understand the Commercial Function within government and have maintained active relationships with current senior civil servants.

Supply Chain Risk Management Expertise

The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive expertise in supply chain risk management frameworks and methodologies, having implemented or overseen major supply chain resilience programmes. They understand both financial and operational dimensions of supply chain risk, particularly in government and regulated sectors.

This individual can articulate how supply chain priorities have evolved from cost minimisation towards risk management and resilience. Their experience should include leading responses to major supply chain disruptions, enabling them to provide practical insights into how RiskTrace's AI tools can address genuine challenges faced by government departments.

Digital Transformation and AI Knowledge

Our ideal NED brings substantial experience in digital transformation initiatives that incorporate artificial intelligence, particularly for risk assessment or predictive analytics. While not necessarily a technical specialist, they must possess sufficient technological literacy to effectively evaluate AI implementation strategies, data governance approaches, and technology roadmaps.

They should have overseen successful digital transformation projects within government or regulated industries, understanding both the technological possibilities and practical constraints of deploying advanced analytics within public sector environments.

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge

The candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory frameworks governing public sector procurement, data protection and AI deployment. They understand the compliance requirements for government suppliers, including security clearances, data handling protocols and ethical considerations around algorithmic decision-making. This regulatory knowledge enables them to guide RiskTrace's product development to meet government standards while maintaining innovation potential.

Governance and Strategic Oversight Capabilities

Our ideal NED demonstrates exceptional governance skills, bringing structured thinking and rigorous oversight to board discussions. They have prior board experience, preferably in scale-up or technology-focused organisations, with a track record of balancing growth ambitions with appropriate risk management.

They possess strong commercial acumen, understanding how to position technology offerings within complex public sector procurement frameworks. Their strategic perspective enables RiskTrace to develop a product roadmap that addresses immediate client needs while building towards longer-term technological objectives.

Professional Background and Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate likely comes from a senior civil service background with commercial oversight responsibilities or from a technology organisation serving government clients. They combine analytical rigour with relationship-building skills and can work effectively with technical founders to translate complex capabilities into compelling value propositions for government stakeholders.

Compensation Package

This can be discussed upon application and either an employed or contracted role can be offered. Equity will also be considered for the right candidate, vesting over time and performance based.

This is a remote working role although the successful candidate will be required to attend our Guildford office for meetings at least once per month.

Full expenses will be reimbursed whilst working with us.
